Matt Stiefel, MPA, MS, directs the Center for Population Health in Kaiser Permanente’s Care Management Institute (CMI). He is a fellow and faculty member with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, currently leading measurement for 100 Million Healthier Lives. Matt has served in various roles in KP since 1981, directing medical economics and planning in the Northwest Region and Program Office. He joined CMI in 1998 and became the associate director in 2000. Prior to KP, he served on the Carter Administration Domestic Policy Staff and DHEW. He completed an MS in epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health, holds an MPA from the Wharton School, and a BA from Stanford University.
